A Peanut Butter Tip

We use Peanut Butter to give Targ his soloxine twice a day and Qor her hydroxizine when she needs it (like now because Tree pollen is freaking insane right now). It’s handy because it clings to the pills and also makes it hard for them to spit them out.

With the news about Transfats being really bad (which I’ve always thought anyway) we have been using natural peanut butter for the kids. To be honest, I’ve always thought that a lot of peanut butters tasted like peanut flavored crisco.

The problem wtih natural peanut butter is that all the oil floats on top and you have to mix it in. Messy messy messy.

Here’s a tip.

Before you open your jar, turn it over. Leave it upside down on your counter over night. Most of the oil will migrate to the bottom. Then flip it back over and stick it right in the fridge. By the time it chills, the oil will be mixed in. You might have a bit on top, but nothing like the 1/4 inch of peanut oil sitting on top taunting you.

EEEEK …. peanut butter oil! Good to know!

I have never really thought about giving my dogs natural peanut butter. They get it so infrequently. I usually give out pills with a slice of american cheese or a dolop or cream cheese.

Johann, it totally does. Depending on how oily it is, you might have to turn it upside down a few times… but it works!
