I’ll make my own, thanks

I was reading on another blog about how excited their furballs get about Frosty Paws. Personally, I would never feed them.

Here is why:

Ingredients:

WATER, DRIED WHEY, SOY FLOUR, ANIMAL FAT (PRESERVED WITH BHA AND BHT), DRIED WHEY PRODUCT, DRIED WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, VEGETABLE FAT, SOY LECITHIN, MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE, MONO-DIGLYCERIDES, CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE, POLYSORBATE 80, POLYSORBATE 60, CALCIUM CARBONATE, CHOLINE CHLORIDE, FERROUS SULFATE, ZINC SULFATE, MANGANESE SULFATE, MAGNESIUM OXIDE, SILICON DIOXIDE, VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENT, VITAMIN E SUPPLEMENT, NIACIN SUPPLEMENT, COPPER SULFATE, CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, RIBOFLAVIN SUPPLEMENT, POTASSIUM IODIDE, THIAMINE MONONITRATE, VITAMIN D3 SUPPLEMENT, VITAMIN B12 SUPPLEMENT, AND FOLIC ACID.

BHA and BHT are carcinogens. Soy may or may not inhibit the absorption of some nutrients. And what exactly is vegetable fat? I like this recipe instead

Low fat frozen yogurt (cultured milk and active probiotics), Banana

if you want to get fancy, what about

Low sodium organic chicken stock, yogurt, fresh parsley

I just bought some dixie cups and I intend to make my own.

I actually ended up putting unsweetened applesauce in the bottom.. we’ll see how they like them!

You are sooooo right! Mum wouldn’t let us go near that stuff. Life with a Newf (another dog blog) had a great recipe, so she made them for us! And we love them. Best part is that’s how I get my daily yogurt, sometimes for my IBS!! Lucky me! ! !

Mum added a few blueberries and a tad of peanut butter in ours. Next time she’s adding in some banana, yum! ! ! !

oooo…. blueberries! what a great idea!

Well, I tested them out with the kids last night.. I had to tear the paper cups off since they kept pushing the edges toward the inside… Qay actually managed to take care of that herself!

Yuck. I had no idea there was so much gross stuff in there. I’ve never bought it, either - we make our own out of bananas, active culture yogurt, a bit of wheat germ and some vanilla extract.

I have never heard of the things, and don’t feed them. That ingredients list is just awful.

You know, ever since the pet food recall hit, I’ve not only questioned what my dogs and cat are eating, but what I eat too! There’s tons of unappetizing stuff in food for pets and people…pretty scary stuff!

It’s very scary… we have been working very hard to not eat stuff like that ourselves.. it’s not easy.. we are finding that we are cooking a lot more.
