Poofy Face

Poor Qor. We did finally figure out that she has problems with beef and wheat. So we’ve been very careful what we feed her. Yesterday we got an Azmira shipment. I am putting together a donation basket for the Baystate Bullmastiff Club specialty. I got all kinds of good stuff, plus I added in our stuff (I don’t sell it if I won’t use it. We needed more multivitamins and glucosamine, plus I ordered Rejuva Gel for Qor’s face. She has some skin fold pyoderma)
I also got the kids a few treats. Specifically Liver Slivers. Detoxified beef liver that has been dried. It’s good and stinky and just a perfect little snack.
Well duh.. BEEF liver.. I didn’t even think and I gave her a piece. And today, her poor face is all poofy and swollen. She has been living on benedryl today. I don’t know what we are going to do on bone day.
Poor kid.

Poor puppy! She’s going to need to have her own special stash of safe treats to have when everyone else gets goodies.
Ooo poor dear. Well, good thing you found out what the culprit is.
And feeding treats.. that doesn’t count does it? Well it’s not supposed to. 
it didn’t even occur to me that a dog could have a wheat allergy! my mom has it & she gets a ‘poofy’ face just like your dog when she eats any wheat. as for the beef allergy, that’s a bummer!

Oh, poor Qor! She’s like me…can’t eat certain things. My mom finally got a food dehydrator and now she makes me dehydrated treats at home! She said it’s much cheaper, and she can buy organic liver at the health food store and make the treats at home, and it doesn’t smell much!
Hmm…if you have a Whole Foods Market nearby, they should be able to get chicken livers for you if you want to make liver treats for Qor. Poor thing, I feel her pain!
Indy: Hmm.. what a great idea! I actually have a dehydrator and have been hesitant to use it on chicken livers.. mostly because I think they are nasty (too many months working in a Jewish Deli.. chopped liver.. blech!) I’ll have to try chicken bits.
Very_Vizsla: believe it or not, it’s pretty common. It took us two years to figure it out though!
